Additional information

High accuracy parameterisation of electric machines remains a major challenge in academia and industry, becoming increasingly important with increasing emphasis on high-efficiency design and operation. This work investigates improved parameterisation procedures for wind/marine induction generators, proposing novel testing techniques and successfully benchmarking these against conventional IEEE tests (10.1109/IEEESTD.1997.82360). This work was undertaken with partners from Cork University (contact details available) validating their parameterisation work with Manchester harmonic modelling expertise. The reported results have broadly contributed to work in Italy developing an alternative observer method for real-time parameter estimation (DOI:10.1109/TIE.2012.2209614).
