Ground Control: Fear and Happiness in the 21st Century City
Ground Control, which is Anna Minton's first book, is about the creeping privatisation of British cities and the impact that has on fear, trust and happiness. The book emerged from a series of three reports published by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the think-tank Demos. The reports looked at gated communities and ghettoes in the US and UK, segregation in cities and the privatisation of public space. A new edition of Ground Control, including a new chapter on the true legacy of the Olympics, was published in 2012.
