Significance of output:

This paper describes design and fabrication of a radical new LED device. 24 granted, licensed patents relate to this work (US6901194, US6888994, US7509012), which significantly contribute to an IP portfolio valued at $64M (KPMG). Commercial products have been developed and a new company formed in Taiwan (Luxtaltek corporation) to mass produce them; Luxtaltek is closing a $200M production deal. Underlying technology has gained mainstream national press coverage in Taiwan (June 2013). A book chapter has been written on this subject (Woodhead publishing). New industrial development contracts have arisen (Luxtaltek Corp, TSMC, Plessey, Oclaro, NanoGaN, Sharp, CDT, Seren Photonics).
