Additional information

This work represents a major research outcome from a joint EPSRC grant (EP/F024436, Wang & Jenkinson, £247k; EP/ F024606, Yang, Manchester University, £315k, 2008-2012). It was used as a key reference at International Maritime Organization (IMO)’s prioritisation of security measure for access control in port facilities and in the IMO’s workshops in Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, Peru and Thailand with more than 200 delegates attending in 2013 (Maritime Security Specialist, IMO). It has directly led to an award of a highly competitive research grant ($54k, Riahi, 2013-2015) from the Nippon Foundation (General Secretary, International Association of Maritime Universities).
