This work was a pre-cursor to an EPSRC Industrial CASE award in modelling the micro spot welding process (No. 09001706, Ren, £60k, 2010-2013). It has contributed to the development of a Royal Academy of Engineering grant (Ren, £18k, 2010-2011) with Serco Technical Services (Team Leader, Serco Technical Services). The work has also led to a new PhD research project funded by the Indonesian government in developing new optimisation strategies for material parameter identification based on indentation tests (Professor of Materials Engineering, University of Udayana, Indonesia, 2009-2013).
