The proposal was ranked 3rd out of 37 responsive-mode proposals in the Materials, Mechanical, Medical Engineering Panel (http://gow.epsrc.ac.uk/) with the work being published in a leading journal in science and engineering. Reviewer comments: “An interesting new point is the consideration of a so-called ‘elastic lens’”, “It is quite rich” (Editor, Proceedings of the Royal Society A). The flat “elastic lens” in a micro-polar lattice was first conceived in this paper (Editor, Proceedings of the Royal Society A).
