Additional information

This paper presents simulation of non-Newtonian chemical mixing using the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM). This is one of the first applications of the LBM to non-Newtonian fluid mixing and follows on from the earlier work by the author on non-Newtonain blood flow models. The effectiveness of the approach is demonstrated for the first time for a power-law fluid in a mixing section. The flexible nature of the approach and its application with alternative non-Newtonian models are also discussed. This work has spurred further studies by others (IMA J. App. Maths., 76, 790-816; J. Non-Newtonian Fluid Mech., 166, 404-412).
