Double-weighted statement

This book represents research undertaken over eight years. The body of material amassed for the book spanned archives across the US and UK, from public record offices to University and independent rare book and manuscript collections, and represents the first drawing together of an extensive and complex range of primary sources. The central thesis of the book- that women poets’ engagement with their male peers, rather than their exclusion and marginalization, is evident from the complex networks of communication, allusion and influence represented in their works- could only be mounted through this analysis of disparate material.
