"This volume involved the collection, analysis and scholarly editing of an extensive body of material, including the examination of a wide range of primary sources, collected over five years. The volume makes use of texts from 145 manuscripts held across 17 archives (including Europe and North America): 86 additional manuscripts had to be examined. From these sources, 206 relevant texts in Latin and Anglo-Norman French, were identified which were then arranged to make 159 distinct edited texts, with extensive editorial apparatus and with a scholarly introduction of 41,600 words"
