Location and Context: Fer’s single-authored monograph was published on the occasion of the exhibition Eva Hesse: Studiowork that she co-curated with Barry Rosen at the Fruitmarket Gallery during the Edinburgh International Art Festival July 2009. The exhibition travelled to a number of venues in Europe and North America over two years (Camden Arts Centre, London, Tapies Foundation, Barcelona, the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, Canada and the Berkeley Art Museum, Berkeley, California and the ICA, Boston) attracting more than 200,000 visitors worldwide. The publication was written as a stand-alone book and is entered here as a single-authored 237 page monograph. It was shortlisted for the 2010 Banister Fletcher Award for the best book on art and architecture, and praised by jury for the quality of scholarship and ambition of the publication.
