Under divine auspices : divine ideology and the visualisation of imperial power in the Severan Period

This is a work based on quantitative analysis, which entailed the collection and analysis of a considerable body of material: a total of 67,151 Severan period coins from hoards were collected and individually entered into a database by RIC number; the process, of course, entailed sifting through an even larger body of material in order to identify relevant specimens. In order to access the relevant publications several international research trips were necessary; in many cases the coins had to be converted from Cohen to RIC number, a lengthy process. The in-depth analysis of this data also took a considerable time.
