Additional information

The control of bacteria in drinking water systems is vital to the provision of clean potable water throughout the world. Conventional bacteriological methods neither capture the true range of bacteria present, nor their effects. This study innovatively brought together a range of technologies to make a significant advance in understanding bacterial/environment interactions, as evidenced by the large number of groups (over 20) from the UK, Europe, China, US (Yale, Rutgers and others) Japan, India, Australia etc. who have used this as a reference in studies varying from biofilm control to biocolloids and even Li-ion battery technology.
