Additional information

This paper demonstrated experimentally that power law fluids have a two step parameter estimation process, with the second step a variation of the classical Hagen-Poiseuille equation, which generalizes to shear-rich flow fields for the first time here. The Economist and Chemical Processing published feature articles about this work, which promises online, continuous monitoring of rheometry in many process industries. Study is a key elment for patent filed in 2012 with spinout company Rheometrix Microsystems set up in April 2012. Applications in food processing (Mondalez), consumer products (GSK), and biomass derived bio-liquids are being pursued.
