Additional information

In attending a conference in Belgium on regionalism during the interwar period in Europe, the lack of representation of British regionalism was apparent. As an expert in regionalist influences in the work of Oliver Hill, Vanden Berghe was commissioned by the editors to write the chapter on British architecture. The contribution highlights a lack of consideration for the regionalist in British architecture and questions regionalism not only as a geographical but as a cultural factor. The international publication contributed to enhance the profile of British architecture of this period to a wider European audience.
