Faith in the family

The original monograph is based upon a vast range of written, visual and oral sources. The research used previously unexamined primary source material from nine archives scattered across Britain, as well as material obtained from the US. These sources were augmented by systematic analysis of the English Catholic press, with a concentration on four main weeklies, spanning over forty years of publication. Nineteen life histories were also collated, and alongside the difficulties of participant identification, these comprehensive oral history interviews were fully transcribed. The project took over five years to complete.
