Double-weighted statement

This monograph has been Buchanan's principal area of research since 1996. The book focuses on a number of ephemeral organisations which lacked formal archives, and this meant that the research covered a large number of private and institutional collections. To fill in gaps in the records Buchanan was also required to carry out extensive research into the left-wing press across a fifty year period (including complete runs of the Daily Worker/Morning Star, New Statesman and Tribune). Finally, he had to undertake background research in Chinese history, British international history, and the British left.
