Additional information

This paper uses our unique, experimentally-validated model, to test and verify our hypothesis that the choice of bypass graft and subsequent surgical procedures could significantly affect the clinical performance of coronary bypasses. Our results are significant as the diameter ratio and angle are parameters surgeons can control during surgical procedures. It forms the basis of our A*STAR-SERC (Singapore) grant (S$1,077,673; #0221010023) and subsequently led to an EDB (Singapore) Proof-of-Concept award. The work has inspired internationally reputable groups (e.g. Vimmr, jvimmr@kme.zcu.cz; Rozza, gianluigi.rozza@epfl.ch) to develop approaches to optimize/control the shape of coronary anastomoses.
