Additional information

This is the first paper to examine the state of thermodynamic equilibrium of arc formed over ice-covered insulators. Flashover of ice-covered insulators is a problem for grids in cold climate regions. Knowledge about the existence of Local Thermodynamic Equilibrium for this kind of discharge allows researchers to have a better understanding of the mechanisms involved and to improve existing models. Using an original spectroscopic test setup synchronized with the electrical parameters, voltage and current, measurements, a fundamental question about the thermodynamic state of this kind of discharge has been answered. Published in the most prestigious journal in the dielectrics field.
