LHCb's ability to identify production and decay vertices and associate tracks to them is crucial for this analysis where five out of the nine variables used in the multi-variate event selection are measured by the Vertex Locator. I played a major role in the design, construction, commissioning and operation of the Vertex Locator since 2004 and I am currently its Project Leader.
