Additional information

This work was conducted in collaboration with Novozymes Ltd, Purolite International Ltd and GreenFuel Oil Co. Ltd (funded by EPSRC and Malaysian Government). This is the first paper that has successfully described a detailed comparison of an enzyme immobilised on acrylic resin and a newly developed ion exchange resin catalyst for the pre-treatment of used cooking oil for biodiesel production. This work led to a successful biodiesel production project (meeting EN14214 standards) where the research is being continued in collaboration with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Uptown Oil Co. Ltd.
