Additional information

Paper is first to build a recommender system combining a social network of music artists, (the largest, MySpace) with metadata extracted from artists' works. It asks and answers several important questions in music recommendation, as this area enters its second phase of evolution - from single- to multi-modal operation, e.g. tag-only, audio-only, network-only, to hybrids. On top of this is built the first methodologically-evaluated, automatic, playlist generator (as used e.g. by radio producers). A collaborative work between Queen Mary and Goldsmiths, outcome of OMRAS2, one of EPSRC's first ICT Large Grants (EP/E017614/1) that produced over 120 papers (omras2.org).
