Additional information

This paper advances understanding of microwave interactions with bodies. The new understanding of microwave propagation in reverberant environments such as lifts, tunnels, train carriages and aircraft now enables detailed numerical models, that required hundreds of hours of computing time, to be superseded with a direct, well-validated measurement taking less than ten minutes. The findings have contributed to the FP7 funded project HIRF-SE (ICT 205294) and PhD projects into correlations between absorption cross-sections and body parameters.
