The paper won the IStructE Henry Adams Award for the best research paper published in The Structural Engineer in 2010. This paper highlights the design implications of a suite of experiments carried out on steel beam/column connections under fire conditions. The Structural Engineer was chosen as an appropriate vehicle for disseminating the research findings to the profession as it is read by the Institution's professional membership of 27,000 in 105 countries. The research was supported by Corus Ltd.
