Characterising long-term wet-stored fly ash following carbon and particle size separation
This paper describes part of a 24 month DEFRA (Contract No. WRT 395)/industry-funded project carried out in collaboration with colleagues from University of Kentucky and is concerned with evaluating the feasibility of recovering and processing long-term (stockpile or pond) stored fly ash. Material in these storage areas at power stations has potential for use as a high value pozzolana. The research involved mapping the areas and examining what could be achieved with wet-processing to separate material into fractions for different applications. The outcomes provide an option for adoption by fly ash producers to exploit this resource.
