Additional information

This paper (part 2 of 2 companion papers) resulted from an industry-funded project (CTC Marine- Deep Ocean) to improve understanding of offshore pipeline plough performance through a specific geohazard. It is the first attempt to understand the effect of sand waves and to quantify the operational limits of seabed ploughing. The calculation method predicts plough kinematics within a non-uniform seabed and allows performance assessment for a range of wave characteristics. This can be used to decide on avoidance of the hazard and the implications of non-avoidance for ploughing and pipeline operation.
