Additional information

The data presented demonstrate the difficulty of ensuring consistent contact of electrodes when measuring the resistivity of concrete. The work was used by the UK representatives of the CEN committee that prevent the impractical application of electrical resistivity as a single test method to determine the resistance of concrete to carbonation and chloride ingress. The paper also demonstrates the inaccuracy of measuring the resistivity of concretes containing slag and shows that electrical resistivity can account for the chemical binding capacity of different cement types.
