Additional information

This paper shows that foamed concrete can, ideally, utilise fine recycled and secondary aggregates (RSA) that cannot otherwise be used. It demonstrates that the rheology of foamed concrete is not affected by the high surface area and water absorbance of fine RSA’s and, thus, that the variability problems that affect normal weight concrete are overcome. Moreover, different RSA’s can be substituted in different batches without affecting the foamed concrete behaviour. This allows mixed or small quantity wastes to be utilised rather than landfilled, with all consequent economic and environmental benefits.
