Additional information
This paper pioneers synchrotron X-ray pair distribution function analysis of low-CO2 aluminosilicate geopolymer cements. It provides the first nanostructural and thermochemical assessment of geopolymers. Our methodology is a highlighted case-study in the sales brochure for the world-leading PANalytical Empyrean diffractometer (www.panalytical.com). The methodology is transferrable to other disordered systems, which crystallise upon heating, opening new opportunities for nanostructural analysis and optimisation of glasses and sol-gel silicates.
