Additional information

Organic spintronics is a rapidly growing research field, where the novel devices depend on the efficient transfer of spin polarisation across different layers and interfaces. This paper presents a new depth-resolved technique for measuring the spin polarisation of current-injected electrons in an organic spin-valve. It was the first to show that the temperature dependence of the measured spin coherence length is correlated to the device magnetoresistance. This knowledge has been exploited in a range of spintronic devices including spin-valves (DOI:10.1038/ncomms2423), gated spin transistors (Patent No:P208466GB) and spin OLEDs (DOI:10.1126/science.1223444), and has led to European collaborative (British Council) funding.
