Additional information
Fatigue crack growth rates in a steel-based metal matrix composite have been determined, and corrected for the effects of crack closure. We identified three mechanisms for damage during crack growth and showed the importance of Kmax as a controlling parameter for crack growth rate. This work was part of a programme funded by Goodrich Aerospace.
