Additional information

Power system loadflow computation is widely used in industry, with perhaps 10,000 analyses being undertaking every day in the UK by National Grid and other power companies. As a complex non-linear analysis problem, convergence is uncertain and the cause of this can be a physical attribute or a purely computational problem. This paper introduces a new approximate loadflow formulation with a wider 'basin of convergence' which helps with diagnosis. The algorithm has been implemented as a software package which has potential for commercialisation.
