Income and poverty in a developing economy
This article provides a benchmark in the mathematics of poverty economics as the first probabilistic estimation of the future poverty index of an economy based on past data. The result has redefined developmental economics by integrating data based analysis with mathematical modelling. As a vibrant area of interdisciplinary research, interfacing two independent schools of research, the work has led to 4 invited presentations in international conferences, a Royal Society Research Grant (RG110622) and 3 peer reviewed publications, all from Aston, thereby paving the way for 2 international (CNRS and Padua) and 2 national (Edinburgh and Queen Mary) collaborations.
