Additional information

Lynch’s substantial contribution involves the development of hypotheses for explaining support for UKIP. These covered socio-demographic factors (e.g. region, occupation, gender and age), attitudinal explanations (e.g. Euroscepticism, ideological position, attitudes to politics and other parties, and attitudes to immigration) and the nature of party competition (e.g. the supply of parties). He led the analysis of the significance of Euroscepticism, populism and dissatisfaction with politics and mainstream parties, party competition and left-right ideological placement in explaining support for UKIP, and analysis of the size of the effects of these variables on predicted probability of voting for UKIP.
