<28> The simply captured white light clinical (WLC) skin images have been used to diagnose malignant melanoma at early stages. A new feature for computer automatic diagnosis systems is developed using texture information that is based on the skin pattern. The paper and its related work have been cited by papers in the journals of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, Melanoma Research and IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in Biomedicine. The research involved collaboration with Bangor University and the Institute of Cancer Research. This work was funded by grants from EPSRC and the Natural Science Foundation of China.
