Additional information

<01> This antenna is designed for operation over the 802.11a and b/g bands. A novel balanced rectangular loop antenna is presented: the intrinsically self-balancing structure of a loop eliminates the need for a balun for connection to a RF source and also means that the antenna is largely independent of perturbations of its associated ground plane by proximity of objects such as a human hand, because balanced feed minimizes ground plane currents. A prototype with miniaturised dimensions of 31×16×3 mm was fabricated and tested: the computed and measured results show good agreement, confirming good wideband characteristics with multiband operation
