This research, conducted in collaboration with Scottish and Southern Energy [david.macleman@sse.com, stewart.reid@sse.com], presents field-trial results of a demonstration deployment of Active Network Management (ANM) of renewable generation connected to a power distribution system. The field trial was critical to the technology being commercialised through Smarter Grid Solutions [http://www.smartergridsolutions.com/insights/active-network-management.aspx, rcurrie@smartergridsolutions.com]. The research has further developed into an operational ANM system on Orkney, managing 18 generators producing 25MW. This research has led to several related publications [e.g. http://www.cired.net/publications/cired2013/pdfs/CIRED2013_0659_final.pdf].
