<12>This study demonstrates the pioneering use of machine learning classification techniques to determine the encryption algorithm used to encrypt a piece of cypher text. DES, IDEA, AES, and RC block ciphers were classified. Being able to correctly determine the encryption algorithm raises a number of important security issues. This study evaluates 8 different machine learning classification techniquies and determines that the RoFo classifier has the highest acuracy in determining the encryption algorithm used.
