Nanofibre fabrication in a temperature and humidity controlled environment for improved fibre consistency
New bioactive high surface area nanofibre material to increase drug manufacturing throughput. We determined process parameters for consistent synthesis of cellulose nanofibres. The work has led to patent application WO2013068741, Journal publication Biotechnology and Bioengineering 110(4), 1119 (2012), STFC Enterprise Fellowship, £100k prize from the OneStart Competion underpinning new spinout company Puridify Ltd. (www.puridify.com). Led to new funding to research: new chemiluminescent point of care diagnostic technology (ST/K001892/1, £61k); 3D cellular assays toward animal free testing (Dr Hadwen Trust, £152,780); and solar powered sterilisation of water (BBSRC iCASE studentship, BB/K012924/1).
