Additional information

<04> The novelty of this paper is the systemic way of controlling transport layer offered load for multimedia streaming applications, based on the degree of medium contention information received from the network. The novelty here is the low overhead and eliminating the need for per-flow state table at intermediate nodes. The significance is that it is less complex and more cost effective than existing methods. This work was timely because it reflected the emerging symbiosis of portable computers and wireless networks and addresses the convergence of mobility and computing.
