An accurate and scalable analytical model for IEEE 802.15.4 slotted CSMA/CA networks
IEEE802.15.4 technology has been widely used due to its low power communications. We proposed a novel analytical tool that can provide quick and thorough analysis of network performances and support network planning and optimization. The analytical tool is effective with high model accuracy and low complexity. The work has contributed to awards of EPSRC grants EP/1010157/2 (DSRC vehicle networks, £120k) and EP/G064105/1 (Green Radio, £365k), and led to further development and publications (e.g. DOI:10.1007/s12083-012-0154-6, DOI:10.1109/LCOMM.2011.031411.102497, DOI:10.1155/2012/940302, DOI:10.1109/WCNC.2013.6555280, DOI:10.1002/wcm.821). The proposed analytical framework is used by other academic groups due to model simplicity and scalability (e.g. in DOI:10.1109/TMC.2011.121, DOI:10.1109/TVT.2012.2201221, DOI:10.1007/s11277-011-0321-8).
