Printed and digital scholarly edition of works by the poets listed, with full critical apparatus including biographies, introduction, editorial methodology, complete variants, prose word order, English translation, notes, bibliography and indices.
The volume as a whole is a collaborative scholarly edition, under the general editorship of Gade, in which a variety of contributing editors were each responsible for a poet or selection of poets. Jesch edited the work of seven named poets and one anonymous poet, all from the twelfth-century section of Orkneyinga saga. They form a coherent group thematically and because of this textual preservation, but are not continuously paginated because of the way the volume is organised. In each case the editions comprise a biography of the poet, introduction, text, translation, textual apparatus and extensive notes.
