Alleviating contention-induced spurious timeouts in QoS-aware MANETs
<04> Originality: RE-TCP is one technique within our recently developed TCP-friendly suite for QoS-aware MANETs (also partially applicable in QWLANs), to address the spurious retransmissions issue in 802.11e-enabled MANETs. Despite other TCP-friendly techniques, RE-TCP has no negative effects on delay-sensitive traffic. Significance: Published in Elsevier “Ad Hoc Networks” journal (originally in IEEE AINA’08). The whole suite, including RE-TCP, can be easily included in the future MANET standard due to its backward compatibility with the existing standards. Rigor: The developed OPNET simulation model has been extensively verified for different scenarios. We have also been using this model for our current studies.
