The effects of music choice on task performance: a study of the impact of self-selected and experimenter-selected music on driving game performance and experience
<20> Published in one of the leading journals. The work led to the award of Young Researcher from the European Society for the Cognitive Sciences of Music. The work was the first publication to investigate the effects of preferred music listening on video game performance and experience, bridging the fields of Music Psychology and Game Studies. The key results highlighted the efficacy of music to optimise interaction with entertainment technology, and elucidated the nature of gameplay performance and experience. A companion paper won the 'Top 10 Games Studies of the Year' at the leading Game Developers Conference 2007.
