This paper identified for the first time the possibility of poling single crystals of tetragonal or rhombohedral ferroelectric in such a way as to maintain low energy microstructural states throughout the process. The work was an outcome of EPSRC grant no. EP/E026095/1 and led to subsequent grant no. EP/G065233/1. Based on this project Dr Huber is invited to deliver a lecture series for CISM, International centre for Mechanical Sciences in 2014.
