Additional information

This work on rotation-invariant local region descriptors for images has become a key element for object recognition work within the Signal Processing Group and has been or is being used by researchers P Bendale, E S Ng, T Gale and S Forshaw. It is an important component of the project for vision-based Road Traffic Monitoring and Modelling that is part of the successful recent EPSRC grant proposal for the Centre for Sustainable Road Freight (EPSRC grant EP/K00915X/1, GBP4.4M). Dr Nelson, who was a post-doc in Cambridge, is now a Lecturer in the Statistics Department at University College London.
