Additional information

This conclusive demonstration that engine transients can be analysed using an in-cylinder gas sampling and analysis system (which was developed at the Cambridge Engineering Department, and then commercially exploited) has led to its take-up in a number of university and industrial laboratories around the world, for example Shanghai Jiao Tong University http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.expthermflusci.2013.03.001 and Delphi Corporation (SAE Technical Paper 2008-01-0093, 2008). There is a follow-on project with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries entitled "Optimization of Turbocharger performance via advanced control methodologies" fully funding one Research Associate and associated experimental work for three years (2011-14).
