The research reported in this paper contributed to the awarding of an EPSRC CIM Ultra Precision grant

of GBP560k (EP/I033491/1, 6/10/2011), which subsequently led to the successful funding of the CDT in Ultra Precision of GBP520k (EP/K503241/1, 1/10/2012). It further led to research funding of GBP51k from Two Trees Photonics (RG60603, 1/4/2010) that directly supported a multimillion pound head-up display production project at the company (Peter Woodland, ID_in_audit_file@2tp.com). Fujian Opto-Electronics Ltd funded a GBP258k research project (RG60321, 1/4/2010) to work on applications.
