This paper is a result of a project on casing grooves which was initiated by Rolls-Royce when the lift fan for the Joint Strike Fighter was being designed. This work has been used directly by Rolls-Royce to improve the design of casing treatments used in military applications (Dr D Lambie, ID_in_audit_file@rolls-royce.com).
