Additional information

On the strength of the research reported here (3D shock bumps were originally developed in Cambridge) the Department received further EU research funding (GBP45k, SFWA-01-023 Project NEXTWING with Stuttgart University) with an aim to prepare this technology for flight tests. This is part of the EU's CleanSky Initiative. The conference paper of the same title was awarded the 2010/11 AIAA Applied Aerodynamics Paper Prize (for the best paper) from the AIAA Applied Aerodynamics 2010 Summer and 2011 Winter conferences, total number of abstracts originally submitted: 462 (244 Chicago 2010 + 218 Orlando 2011), average acceptance rate 85%).
