<06> Contributes a novel MAC protocol for wireless sensor networks (WSN), incorporating mechanisms to guarantee timely data delivery, a problem previously neglected in WSN research although of importance for industrial process automation and control networks. An implementation of the work underpinned further research in FP7 project GINSENG, initiated by Roedig at Lancaster, resulting in wider impacts as reflected in the paper's citation rate. This original publication has been followed by a deployment in an industrial setting, leading to a journal article rooted in this work, accepted for publication in the ACM Transactions on Sensor Networks (TOSN).
